- Marion Nations - MSTOM, L.Ac

Marion Nations - MSTOM, L.Ac

Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Marion is a native of Brittany, France, a region of delicious seafood, rugged coastlines and natural healers. It was her mother who introduced her to energy healing, homeopathy and acupuncture. Because of that influence at a young age, Marion developed a passion for natural medicine.

She started pursuing her vocation in the healing arts in 1991, initially as a massage therapist and reiki practitioner. Then in 2000, she studied at the homeopathic academy of Southern California and completed their 3 year program in classical homeopathy. In 2006, she was accepted at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, where she earned a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. She also completed a post-graduate course in Canonical Herbal Medicine taught by Dr. Arnaud Versluys, at the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine.

Through her love for the healing arts, Marion aspires to empower, facilitate wellness and assist her patients in their personal journey towards wholeness. She specializes in women's health and pain relief acupuncture.

Marion Nations is Nationally certified (NCCAOM), California State licensed and a diplomate of Canonical Chinese Medicine through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine.

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture is a safe mild form of stimulation that uses disposable filiform stainless steel needles to stimulate points on the body. The gentle stimulation results in various sensations, which could be experienced as pleasant tingling, mild pressure, or a dull achy feeling in the region being treated. This type of stimulation triggers the body towards self-healing. Acupuncture can be used for chronic pain, headaches, stiffness, digestive and elimination problems, sleep disorder, infertility, back and neck pain, sport injuries, PMS, painful menstruation, menopausal symptoms, arthritis, insomnia and more Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine dating back over 3,000 years and is based on the concept of Qi (pronounced "chee"). The term Qi translates as life energy, its literal translation is air, breath or gas. During the consultation process the acupuncturist will assess a patient by using various diagnostic methods. The time is spent questioning, visual inspection, pulse taking and tongue examination. After collecting the data, the acupuncturist determines an appropriate treatment to initiate the healing process. In order to facilitate this process, the practitioner will use various therapeutic methods such as acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, therapy, herbal medicine and/or dietary therapies.

Herbal Medicine:

Herbal medicine uses a variety of plant and mineral substances blended together to treat many types of injuries and illnesses. It can be taken as convenient granules, capsules, as a cooked tea, or applied to the skin. Herbal medicine can be used to treat the common cold, gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, problems with urination, infertility, menopausal syndrome and many others. Many of these herbal formulas have been used for thousands of years and found to be effective in treating a multitude of ailments. They can be taken internally, or applied externally. The advantage of herbal medication is its ability to be used on a daily basis, often expediting the healing process. Safety is our priority and we use only the purest and safest herbal products that meet pharmaceutical grade GMP standards. Dietary therapy involves more than the typical Western Medicine regimen of vitamins, minerals, and other supplements. East Asian medicine is primarily concerned with the flavor of the foods and the way they are prepared. Other considerations include the season of the year and where it is grown. Learning how to prepare food is of critical importance to dietary therapy.

Cupping:

Cupping is a painless method that uses glass cups to create a suction on the skin. This action stimulates acupuncture points, or larger areas of the body. It lifts connective tissue and increases blood and lymph flow to the skin and muscles. This method draws toxic material to the surface, so as the body can more readily eliminate it and restore healthy circulation. It can leave reddish patches on the skin, which aren't painful, but not all cupping results in redness. Cupping can be applied along with acupuncture, or on its own. It can be very effective for muscular pain, trauma and when used at the onset of a common cold, it can prevent it from progressing.
